CUPPING

This therapy takes its name from the cups that are used to create a vacuum effect over the stagnate areas of the body. It acts as a reverse massage, pulling the tissues upwards instead of pressure being applied. Once the cup is in place, it can be moved along the skin using oils in a process called sliding cupping. This therapy works by loosening adhesions and increasing blood circulation. It wakes the body and makes it feel invigorated, while at the same time producing a profound level of relaxation.

Cupping therapy is often used to:

  • Soften tight muscles

  • Relieve myofascial pain

  • Increase circulation to tissues

  • Open lymphatic pathways, draining toxins

  • Relax the nervous system

Cupping Therapy is a tool used to supplement and amplify the results of an Acupuncture treatment. You can book cupping on its own and still benefit from it.

MICRONEEDLING

Micro-needling is a very safe, natural, effective and holistic alternative to injectables and invasive lasers. The results are long term and the recovery time is minimal. This cost effective, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment targets a diverse range of skin concerns.

Micro Needling is derived from ancient acupuncture and mesotherapy. The treatment begins with body Acupuncture to relax the mind, balance hormones, diffuse digestive discomfort and increase blood production and flow.

During the treatment, the microneedling device is gently glided over the skin while tiny punctures are created within the epidermis and dermis that encourage the skin’s own natural healing response, leading to the production of collagen and elastin.

Benefits of MicroNeedling:

  • Minimize pore size.

  • Reduces hyperpigmentation and evens the skin tone

  • Improves the quality and texture of the skin

  • Stimulates the production of collagen, tightening the skin

  • Reduces the appearance of crows feet and lip lines

  • Smooths fine lines and may help fill in pitting or areas lacking structure

  • Smooth acne scars or burn scars

  • Helpful for removal of blackheads due to hormonal acne

  • Stimulates the production of collagen, tightening the skin

** Up to $99 can be covered by most extended health benefits.

FACIAL RENEWAL ACUPUNCTURE

Facial Renewal Acupuncture is a traditional Acupuncture treatment with an added focus on the face area. It can be used in both preventative and corrective measures to treat a variety of ailments in the skin including wrinkles and age spots.

The tiny pins create micro-traumas in the skin that promotes collagen and elastin production as well as increase the healing rate of the skin in the specifically needled areas. .

The treatment begins with body Acupuncture to relax the mind, balance hormones, diffuse digestive discomfort and increase blood production and flow. Then an Acupuncture treatment is performed on the face to bring focus to the areas of concern.  This treatment is therapeutic, rejuvenating, relaxing and provides overall health benefits.

Rowena uses Facial Acupuncture to help:

  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles

  • Increase acne healing rate

  • Boost collagen production

  • Brighten skin tone and improve texture

  • Strengthen muscle tone

  • Relieve tension in facial muscles

  • Improve overall skin health

  • Improve stress levels and relax the mind

TCM FOOD THERAPY

Shi Liao or TCM Food Therapy is one of the therapeutic modalities in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It identifies the nutritional properties of foods and applies individual food as preventative measure to counteract or prevent diseases. It's goal is to adjust yin(cold) or yang(heat) conditions in order to achieve the balance and its therapeutic effect. TCM Food Therapy also seeks to balance the five flavours (sour, bitter, sweet, spicy, salty) and restore wellness through nutrition and not by counting calories.

This discipline is playing an important role as a supplementary healing technique in conjunction with Acupuncture, cupping and other TCM modalities.

The basis for Rowena's recommendation is a food journal where you write down everything you consume for three days. Rowena will evaluate your journal, then Rowena will discuss a diet plan that makes sense for you.

HEAD TUINA

Tui-na (pronounced twee-nah). Originated in ancient China and is believed to be the oldest system of bodywork.

Head Tui-na focuses on the meridians and acupuncture points of the scalp, face, neck and shoulders and helps to naturally restore the body’s energetic balance which can be negatively impacted by today’s fast-paced and stressful lifestyles.
